The REVIEW

Lips copyrighted to VIOLENT LIPS

The legend - "shadow"

I am going to switch it up a bit for this review.

So, I am going to look at the lyrics first as they are what kind of shocked me the most in this video: the lyrics tell of a stalker boyfriend who tries to control the women he loves. Hmmm, not the best message to use in a song.

"Oh trouble, I control your everything" this definatly does not sound like a healthy relationship to me. So, does this entail a bad relationship for people too relate; a wake-up call for those who in reality control relationships. This just shouts STALKER to me as well as the idea of an obsessive boyfriend,, that can't let go- in short it is a form of domestic violence. It also reminds me of a game of 'push and pull' some couples play in order to gain control but, what's your view? The lyrics are indeed totally depressing compared to the beat of the song thats upbeat and flirtatious this entails that you cannot judge a song by how it sounds but the lyrics it contains~see what I did there.

The music video is kind of average in terms of scenary such as in a car in a room, close-ups of the differnt couples. But, what is interesting is that they boy groups tend to victimise themselves as a result of a bad relationship such as B2st(Beast) 'Shadow'.

I do however, like the outfits they wear as you cannot go wrong with a guy in a good suit. They chose the patterns well so that they don't clash with the atmosphere  or the concept of the music video. My favourite scene is where the stone wall is hit by fractured light (a rainbow of shades) it's very pretty looking and soft on the eyes making it easier to watch. In close second is dancing in the rain- it seems they are trying to elude the alphs male/ manliness that they have rather than the kinder side to their persona

I do not like the 'man-handling; of the female role I don't seem to be able to grasp the use of it in the music video- maybe to show he is controlling her to the point she cannot live without him.

It is definately different to other MV's regarding love and relationships as is the song unique and sepite some of the lyrics I would listen to the song now and again as the tune overall is pretty catchy, but the meaning behind the lyrics deter  me from doing so. It's not terrible but I really do not want to relate to the lyrics but that is my opinion.
