Shinee - "married to the music"

Well.......What can I say other than Shinee is back with another cool concept however, it is misplaced and released within the late summer season- a contradiction to the music video's theme which was propbably divised to attract attention. The music video woukd be better suited to be released around Halloween as the ghoul concept is not as adaptable to the  summer season as their song 'View': unless their aim is to cool people down.

The music video holds a great  atmosphere which fits the momentum of the song. The characters they have adapted are as crazy as the horror theme, which I find quite funny concidering the song's title is 'Married to the Music'. I guess shinee's message on dating at this point is pretty clear, and there is no room for another relationship; which brings sadness to all those fans out there just waithing for  the one chance.

Certainly, the music video is bright and crazy of which I adore and the outfits are just as crazy. I found the aesthetics of the video very pleasing.

The removal/displacement of body parts were very entertaining especially, Jonghuyn's disappearing lips after the make-out. All of  the action and scene changes were carried out smoothly, and were not just different scenes stuck together.

It was quite shocking that Key's head was chopped off and the cross-section of his neck was a radioactive cured meat colour- quite bizzare indeed. I did however, find it kind of funny as they just bluntly kill Key in the music video as well as it slowly slipping off the knife. It added the essence of a cruel reality a bit like 'Beetlejuice' with the aim to produce humour, while being dedicated to the theme/ horror concept. The bowties were a nice touch to the outfits; I mean who doesn't like bowties my old physics teacher ruled the look.

Some of the hairstyles on the other hand, were a no for me such as the blowdried mess and Key's poodle hair - oh the horrors!

The song is easily recognised as a Shinee track, as their unique identitiy is built in to the whole song- harmonies  as well as the change in scale which always makes the song interesting and hard to get bored of.

In contradiction to my earlier statement, when you look at the lyrics of the song you start to understand that Shinee is comparing a romance to a a beat (heartbeat) to which they could listen to for eternity. Their obsession over their lover as well as their attempts to stay intune, as the commit themselves to the beat is what they believe to be alike marriage - something they could listen to forever.

Their emotions are  reflected in the music video through symbolism which is common in all music videos and act as the background of the video and are shown through various behaviours/action' such as "she drives me crazy", and "she is  a good kisser "- we can all guess which scene I am taling about here.

Overall, it is difficult to see this song as a reinvention of the 80/90's tune, and does not appear as obvious as the WonderGirls track "I feel you". To which I believe did a better job, than Shinee when producing the song. Despite that, I do enjoy listening to the song but not as much as the previously mentioned Wonder Girls track.
