B1A4 - "sweet girl"
B1A4 have returned as sweet boyfriends for their very own sweet girl with a mellow tune.
The song personally does not stand out to me, as some of their previous songs have such as "Beautiful Target" of which despite, the terrible nonsensical English phrases has a very catchy tune which I like. However, this time, we do not have to worry with this new song as the English lyrics are short and sweet.
My first reaction to the song was that it is a typical and cliche melody spread over sweet words but, each solo shot was unique and creative. The best scene was CNU's magic realm which created a mystical and colourful atmosphere- as if they are portraying an innocent romance encased by the realm of fantasy. Although cliche not all of the scenes is totally pleasing; in some instances the scenes are too late which, therefore, distract the audience from the actual song indicating the song and the music has not been synced appropriately.
The bar scene is a wonderful performance which will look pleasing on stage and in concerts. The most aesthetic scenes are butterflies bursting and the room of fireflies. On the other hand, I am disappointed with the princess dress which could have been a lot better in quality and style rather, than the stereotypical flaccid style and by a close friend's opinion "plastic". In order to truly reflect the 'sweet girl' image, the female protagonist was trying to be playful which is a bit of a disappointment.
The lyrics are as greasy as the mellow tune - not cringe worthy but, it did not catch my attention compared to their previous work other songs.
Yet, my visual senses were more attracted to some of the beautiful scenes.
Baro' sleazy boxer (night-wear) paired with greasy/ gelled hair is not a 'good look' and just reminded me of a boxer before entering the ring. Although some scenes were sweet they were not so appealing as they could have been, and some of their summer outfit choices did not help either. I believe better care should have taken with the smaller elements of the music video, which is why they relied a bit too much on the CG effects.
Therefore, my conclusion is that this song was a bit of a disappointment and otherwise not to my tastes or expectations compared to their previous releases.
